Features: The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) was implemented on February 1, 1992, and fully implemented on February 1, 1999. To adapt to the significant changes in the responsibilities and equipment requirements of ship radio operators and communication rules brought by GMDSS, given that GMDSS communication on current sea-going vessels primarily relies on English, we have compiled the English textbook "GMDSS Services." At the same time, to ensure that a wide range of maritime radio communication personnel and students can quickly understand and master the principles, system composition, and operational procedures of GMDSS, consolidate their knowledge, and achieve the knowledge level and operational skills stipulated by the STCW 78/95 Convention, the "China Maritime Ship Crew Qualification Examination, Assessment, and Certification Rules," and the "Maritime Ship Crew Qualification Examination and Assessment Program," this exercise book has been compiled. This exercise book was written by teachers who have long been engaged in GMDSS training and teaching. During the writing process, the authors referred to accumulated materials over the years and drew on the latest foreign materials and reference books, striving to cover all aspects of GMDSS communication to help readers deepen their understanding through practice. This exercise book can be used for the bilingual course "GMDSS Communication Services" for undergraduate, junior college, correspondence, and online students in navigation technology and maritime management majors in higher education institutions in China, as well as for maritime ship drivers and radio operators preparing for GMDSS certificate examinations. It can also serve as a reference book for GMDSS shore station radio operators, shipping management personnel, search and rescue center duty personnel, and other relevant personnel for professional learning and training. This exercise book was edited by Hu Weidong, with contributions from Fan Yaotian, Xiong Lei, Xie Bin, Chen Gang, and others.
