Treasure Trove of World Literary Masterpieces -- Don Quixote (Youth Version) (Youth Version)

Author: Miguel de Cervantes
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2001-03-01
Features: A young squire named Don Quixote, completely captivated by knight-errant novels, imitates ancient knights himself, wearing a rusty set of armor, riding a lean horse, and going on adventures, doing many absurd and ridiculous things. Although Don Quixote's actions are absurd and ridiculous, we must not simply view him as a ridiculous clown. In his absurd and ridiculous actions, there are noble motives and lofty ideals. Don Quixote hates tyranny and cruelty, opposes oppression, sympathizes with the weak, and upholds justice. The conflict between Don Quixote and the surrounding world is essentially a conflict between lofty ideals and the dark reality.
