It also provides a relatively general account of the causes and development process of the "pluralistic coexisting musical cultural pattern" of the Naxi during this period.
Chapter 3 "Tribal Chief Strife Period" narrates the historical progression of musical culture among the Naxi tribal chiefs within the realm of the Dali Kingdom, a period of relative independence and strife. It elaborates in detail on musical cultural forms closely related to human origins, tribal wars, disaster prevention, sorcery, divination, as well as natural and supernatural worship.
Chapter 4 "Mu Family Governance Period" describes the development of musical history among the Naxi during the nearly 500 years of rule by the Mu family. During this period, with the arrival of the Yuan Dynasty army and the comprehensive introduction of Han-Tibetan culture, traditional musical cultural forms in the Naxi region underwent significant changes, giving rise to numerous new musical cultural forms such as Boshijili, Confucian ceremonial music, and Dongjing music.
Chapter 5 "Land Reforms and Integration Period" narrates the historical trajectory of musical culture in the Naxi region since the land reforms and integration. It focuses on the prosperity of Dongjing music in the Naxi region after the popularization of Han culture, the emergence and development of "Dada" music, and the transformation of funeral ceremonial music, among other major historical and cultural phenomena.
Chapter 6 "Democratic Revolution Period" describes the historical evolution of the gradual decline of traditional ceremonial music culture in the Naxi region and the gradual introduction and popularization of new musical cultural forms.
