Features: Sketching, typically refers to a painting method that quickly and concisely expresses and records what is seen and felt in life within a short period of time. Sketching is like drawing, a fundamental skill in painting art, both using simple tools and simple, unadorned methods to depict objects and compose scenes. However, sketching differs from drawing. The time spent on drawing is more ample, and the subject is often in a relatively static state, allowing for careful observation, detailed analysis, and in-depth rendering. In contrast, sketching is done in a shorter, more rushed time, and the subject may even be in a state of rapid change. Sketching requires quickly and agilely grasping the overall relationship of the subject, capturing its main features, and expressing them concisely and briefly. When understanding sketching, one should not only focus on the "speed" and overlook the "writing." The speed of sketching is relative and determined by different situations and needs during the painting process. "Writing" refers to the brushwork requirements during painting. The characteristics of "writing" are: conciseness, brevity, and certainty. By using the "writing" brushwork to depict objects, one can achieve a relaxed and unrestrained style, un minor details. "Writing" can vividly capture the essence and form of objects, fully reflect the author's feelings, and also reveal the artistic style of sketching.
