It was a special birthday gift I prepared for my two children. In December 2003, my daughter Si Si was about to turn 12, and my son Tong Tong was about to turn 9. According to American customs, a 12-year-old birthday marks the end of a child's childhood and the beginning of their adolescence. This birthday held special significance for Si Si and Tong Tong in their lives. So, I wanted to give them a gift that was both shared and special to this milestone birthday that was so significant to each of them. That's when I thought of writing something rather than buying something.
