Food, clothing, shelter, and transportation are the four essential elements of life, making housing a timeless and eternal topic of human concern. Residential construction in small towns (including rural areas) is one of the most pressing concerns for the general public in China. The editors have analyzed and selected 180 representative courtyard design schemes from small towns in various regions over the past few years, compiling them into three volumes titled "Trendy Courtyard Residences in Small Towns" (Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3). These schemes include standalone, parallel, row-style, and courtyard-style residential designs suitable for organizing courtyards. Many of the designs focus on incorporating traditional residential layouts, such as front courtyards, rear courtyards, and inner courtyards, to ensure that each functional space within the residence receives ample natural lighting and ventilation. This improves the quality of living environments and makes the floor plans more rational and livelier. The architectural designs are also richer, more vibrant, and diverse. Some of these designs have already been constructed and have been well-received by the public.
