Features: The design of each lesson in this book includes six parts: Work, Annotations, Author and Work, Questions and Reflections, A Follow-up Lesson, and Brain Teaser. The compiler of the textbook holds the understanding that language and literature are intertwined. Therefore, when selecting works, emphasis was placed on two aspects: the aesthetic beauty of language forms and literary quality. For example, a considerable number of ancient Chinese literary works with rhythmic beauty were chosen; similarly, a significant number of contemporary works created using innovative techniques, such as realism, black humor, and magical realism, were selected. Since literature is the study of humanity, special attention was given to the intrinsic humanistic literacy and care in the selected works. Considering the strong cognitive abilities of middle school students, the textbook strives to broaden its scope of knowledge and extend it beyond the textbook, making it an open-ended resource. This is particularly evident in the "Author and Work" and "Annotations" sections, which provide both detailed literary information and concise bibliographies, allowing students to explore related books outside the classroom after studying the lessons. This enhances the open-ended nature of the textbook. The "Questions and Reflections" are designed to be concise, mostly consisting of thought-provoking questions with multiple possible answers. It is hoped that through this practice, students will develop the ability to think independently and not blindly follow others. Additionally, some literary knowledge is introduced as needed to deepen students' understanding of literature. The textbook also features a special section called "A Follow-up Insight" for students to express their own opinions. This directly reflects the teaching philosophy that students are the main subjects, ensuring they are not passive learners. Based on the educational principle of "learning through enjoyment," the "Brain Teaser" section includes humor, satire, or inspiration, all aimed at cultivating students' interest in language.
