Features: At the turn of the century, China was filled with alluring advertisements for "immigrating to Canada" and fervent waves of people rushing to the "land of maple leaves." So, who could tell the eager young Chinese people a true Canada? Where could the readers get real information about the Chinese immigrants living far away? Dr. Xi Laiwang, a senior visiting scholar at the Joint Asia-Pacific Research Center of the University of Toronto and York University, who was praised by the China Youth News as "having in-depth research on the issue of Chinese mainlanders immigrating to Canada," has compiled the first-hand materials obtained from his more than a year of field research. Using a narrative writing style and thorough analysis in the form of an investigation report, he truly reflects on various aspects of life in Canada and shares with the readers the joys and sorrows of fellow countrymen who have recently immigrated to the foreign land as "technical immigrants."
