Features: In September 2001, the American Film Critics Association, overcoming numerous obstacles and risking public criticism and church protests, selected the "Top Ten Censored Films of the 20th Century." These are controversial films from around the world that have caused significant buzz in the film industry. Their content directly clashes with legal, religious, moral, and customary norms, leading to some being banned from screening while others were forced to halt after just a few showings. Although they receive acclaim from industry professionals at major film festivals, ordinary audiences rarely get a chance to see them. Their bold and unconventional content and expression represent a valuable contribution to world cinema and theater art, serving as a significant challenge to mainstream films represented by "Academy Award-winning movies." As such, they are indispensable collectibles for film enthusiasts.
