Author: Zhang Xichang, born in Shanghai in 1941. Graduated from the Physics Department of Shanghai Normal University in 1963. Served as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Children's Times and Director of the Photography and Reading Room of Shanghai Illustrated Press. Member of the Chinese Writers' Association. During this period, he twice served as a visiting scholar at institutions such as Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan. In 1998, he became the Deputy Chief Architect of the China Aerospace Industry Planning and Design Research Institute. Since late 1998, he has been working at Shenzhen University, currently serving as a professor, Director of the School of Architecture Research Center, and Deputy Chief Architect of the Shenzhen University Architectural Design and Research Institute. He is a member of the Second National Advisory Committee for Architectural Programs in Higher Education, the Second and Third National Evaluation Committee for Architectural Programs in Higher Education, and the Committee on Architectural Education and Professional Practice of the Chinese Society of Architects.
Since his career began, he has consistently adhered to the principle of combining creative practice with theoretical research. He has led or participated in over thirty engineering projects and has independently written or co-authored six monographs, three translated works, and published over fifty academic papers.
