Childhood Secret Code

Features: The "troublesome kid" drawn by a cartoonist. His mother couldn't stand his "troubles," but he himself was "come back," meaning "to argue back." This kid had no other skills, but his ability to argue back was top-notch. The unique part was that not long ago, a reader from Pingtung wrote a letter from far away, saying that out of the five newspapers she subscribed to, her favorite was the comic "The Troublesome Kid." What kind of charm did this kid have to attract readers so much! Could it be because his arguments back were so thought-provoking for adults? Ye Shi's "The Troublesome Kid" first appeared in the women's section of the Minsheng Daily from 1996, five days a week. Now, Lianjing Publishing Company is compiling his works, and I am happy to write the preface for him. Children are parents' sweet, bringing us joy, but also worries. We always think about them and worry for them. Family and parenting issues have always been our focus. Since creating "The Troublesome Kid" in 1996, the series has now published 12 volumes. This year, Zhonghua Book Company and People's Literature Publishing House in mainland China will introduce the "The Troublesome Kid" series to mainland readers in simplified Chinese. The comic has bridged the divide, allowing parents on both sides of the strait to celebrate themselves and care for the next generation—it makes me very happy. At the end, I wrote a song for my one-year-old child. It reflects my feelings, and I am happy to share it with all parents:
Because of love, I prove my existence.
I don’t understand who arranged this.
For whom you came, I don’t know.
I don’t understand the rhythm of life,
Why it changed.
When you walked into my life,
My world became more colorful.
When I hold you in my arms,
All the darkness fades away.
Now I understand,
Because of love, I prove my existence.
For you, I love more and more,
Because you are my child.
