The "College English Synchronous Test" series for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 were compiled based on the vocabulary lists for Levels 1-4 of the "College English Teaching Syllabus" issued by the Ministry of Education and the newly issued "College English Teaching Requirements." The purpose is to adapt to the needs of college English teaching reform in the new century, cultivate innovative abilities in college English education, focus on students' hands-on and practical application skills, align with international standards in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and firmly implement the teaching requirements of college English reform into graded teaching. The series aims to examine and test the comprehensive practical English proficiency of students who have completed the College English Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 courses. Each semester corresponds to one level, with the ultimate goal of helping students smoothly pass the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4).
The "Synchronous Test" series features a wide range of materials, primarily based on four college English textbooks recommended by the Ministry of Education for use across universities. The listening comprehension, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, cloze, English-Chinese translation, English writing, short-answer questions, and dictation exercises are all aligned with the teaching content and textbooks of the same level. The first part of the book introduces the teaching syllabi requirements for each level and provides problem-solving strategies and answer tips for various types of questions. The appendix includes common phrases, collocations, and mnemonic rhymes for prepositions. Additionally, the examination points in the test questions for each level in the "Synchronous Test" series fully align with the examination points of the National College English Test Band 4 and Band 6 (CET-4 and CET-6), laying a solid foundation for students to successfully pass these exams.
