Features: As a leading figure in the field of informatization, the CIO (Chief Information Officer) is an undeniable high-level compound talent, playing an irreplaceable important role, and requires close attention and vigorous cultivation. Establishing the CIO mechanism on one hand improves the understanding of the CIO's role among decision-makers in various organizations, on the other hand, it requires a group of CIOs who can truly qualify for informatization leadership work. In fact, under the current situation in China, the latter is more important than the former. Because Chinese organizations at all levels not only value the signals of "selecting a horse by appearance" but also place greater emphasis on selecting horses in "horse racing," this requires CIOs to possess the necessary knowledge and qualities, achieve work performance, and deliver practical results, using facts to demonstrate the role of CIOs to the organization's decision-makers and prove their value. Clearly, to advance the CIO mechanism, a large number of qualified CIOs are needed. And to cultivate qualified CIOs, the most crucial point is to have a scientific and authoritative CIO knowledge system. To systematize, standardize, and stratify the knowledge of CIOs, facilitate the cultivation of CIOs and the transfer of informatization knowledge, we conducted a Delphi method survey on "The Knowledge System for CIO Cultivation" with the support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Project: "Research on Mechanisms and Models for Promoting Knowledge Transfer to Advance Enterprise Informatization") and the Beijing Municipal Informatization Office Soft Science Research Fund (Project: "Research on the Cultivation Model and Curriculum System for Chinese CIOs"). The main focus of the survey was on the overall structure of the CIO cultivation knowledge system and the content of each knowledge point. This book systematizes, standardizes, and stratifies the knowledge of CIOs, and divides the knowledge required for CIOs into 10 knowledge points and 3 modules: the basic module (information technology knowledge, information management knowledge, and information system knowledge), the intermediate module (process management knowledge, project management knowledge, as well as business management knowledge for enterprise CIOs and public management knowledge for government and public sector CIOs), and the advanced module (knowledge of information transformation, information strategy, and information culture). The book also compares and introduces the origin and current development status of CIOs domestically and internationally, as well as the cultivation models of CIOs at home and abroad. The book is well-structured and written in fluent language. It can serve as reference materials for corporate CIOs, CKOs, chief engineers, directors of information centers, directors of computing centers, directors of information offices, information managers, technical supervisors, IT project managers, and information management personnel at all levels, as well as teaching materials for various informatization training classes. It can also be used as reference materials for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in information management and information systems, management science and engineering, business administration, e-commerce, and related fields.
