Features: The vocabulary requirements for postgraduate entrance exams differ significantly from those at the undergraduate level. First, the vocabulary volume increases, requiring mastery of approximately 8,000 words as stipulated in the Postgraduate Entrance Exam Syllabus. Second, the difficulty of the vocabulary intensifies. Third, the demands for understanding and applying the meaning of words become higher. This book strictly adheres to the requirements of the Postgraduate Entrance Exam Syllabus and the Doctoral Entrance Exam Syllabus, while also incorporating appropriate adjustments based on the teaching experience of professional English instructors. It offers strong practicality, targeting, and convenience, making it an essential tool for postgraduate entrance exam preparation, self-assessment during study, and vocabulary mastery.
It should be noted that the postgraduate entrance exam syllabus explicitly states that 3% of the vocabulary exceeds the syllabus. To assist candidates in their review, we have selectively included some words beyond the Postgraduate Entrance Exam Syllabus and the Doctoral Entrance Exam Syllabus by analyzing past exam questions. Currently, most postgraduate and doctoral English vocabulary lists on the market are organized alphabetically. This approach is beneficial for learners to intuitively distinguish between visually similar English words. However, for Chinese learners, grouping words with similar meanings in Chinese is more conducive to memorization.
Given this, when compiling Qin Qin Ci Hui · Postgraduate and Doctoral English Vocabulary, we broke the conventional alphabetical arrangement of other vocabulary books. Instead, we organized the words based on their semantic affinity in Chinese, combined with encyclopedic knowledge classification principles. This arrangement facilitates memorization while also making it easier to compare synonyms and antonyms. For words with multiple meanings, we placed them in different categories according to their distinct definitions. After each entry, we provide a star rating, part of speech, and definitions, with the definitions arranged in order of commonality.
Additionally, for the convenience of readers, we have assigned a star rating to each word, with higher ratings indicating a higher probability of occurrence in usage or exams.
