Features: Have you ever heard strange howls in the middle of the night? Have you ever heard footsteps in the dark—only to find no one there? Have you seen terrifying shadows, with eyes watching you from the darkness, or heard someone calling your name from behind? If so, you should understand that strange tingling sensation—that chills that run down your spine and leave you frozen with fear. In these books, ghosts whisper on rooftops; brave children suddenly become invisible; scarecrows come to life and wander through the fields; puppets and dolls also come alive, scaring people everywhere. You Can't Scare Me: The timid Eddie wants to scare the brave Courtney, and he always comes up with terrible traps for her, but every time he overdoes it and ends up scaring himself. There's a legend about a mud monster in the village—every full moon, the mud monster rises from the mud river bed, dripping with mud, and drags anyone it sees into the mud. But nobody believes it's real. Eddie wants to use his brother Kevin and his two friends to dress up as three mud monsters to scare Courtney. At night, Courtney is lured to the mud river bank. Strangely, there are six mud monsters there, one after another, climbing out of the mud river bed. Terrifying Park: Liz's family was supposed to go to an animal park, but they ended up at a bizarre and terrifying amusement park by mistake. Liz sees many staff dressed as monsters and a strange "No Picking" sign. The werewolf village and the death slides are already terrifying enough, but the game where people lie in coffins and float towards the cemetery is even more horrifying. All these games are too extreme! As the nightmare-like games are about to end, Liz's family tries to leave, but they see a sign saying, "There is no exit here. No one can leave the Terrifying Park alive." Right after that, a group of monsters surround them from all sides.
