1. The Selected Readings in British Literature is compiled and annotated by the Department of Foreign Languages at Fuliang University. It is tentatively divided into two volumes. The first volume covers the period from the 14th century to the second half of the 19th century, while the second volume covers the late 19th century to the late 1930s.
2. Each selection in the book consists of four parts: author introduction, preface, original text, and annotations. Some selections may not have a preface if their themes are striking or can stand alone as complete chapters.
3. The writers and works are generally arranged in chronological order of birth and publication time. However, some writers and works have been slightly adjusted due to their influence on literary schools and status, making it inappropriate to follow the above order.
4. This book has been reviewed by colleagues from Shandong University, Nanjing University, Hangzhou University, Sichuan University, Luoyang Institute of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Normal University, Jilin Normal University, Henan Normal University, and Shanghai Normal University.
