Features: In the 21st century, stepping into product standardization and computerized production, computer-composed music, computer-designed animation, and game software have become commonplace products. Even in the highly professional and creative field of interior decoration design, domestic and foreign software manufacturers have developed numerous design software. With it, as long as you click the mouse, you can continuously transform design plans, including the colors and placement of furniture. In the blink of an eye, the world changes. However, against this backdrop, as a way for interior designers to express their creative ideas—hand-drawn renderings—not only have they not faded away, but they have also become highly favored by designers, especially "emerging" designers. Why is this? A philosopher once said, "Existence proves reasonableness." To express the conception and design of functional spaces, words and text alone are insufficient; with hand-drawn sketches, a few strokes can quickly and vividly convey the designer's ideas about the building's exterior, interior layout, environmental organization, and even the selection of materials and craftsmanship. Thus, hand-drawn sketches serve as a carrier for designers' creativity and inspiration, an art that originates from technology yet transcends it. They showcase the designer's creative thinking, professional knowledge, and unique personality, as well as serving as an important means of communication with clients. Many clients also highly value hand-drawn sketches, as they not only reveal the designer's skill but also make it easy to modify and refine the drawings. Additionally, hand-drawn sketches are highly practical. In a design, the emphasis varies, so the designer may lightly sketch the less important parts, while meticulously detailing the key elements with fine lines, capturing both grandeur and subtlety on the page. This "leaving space for horses to run but no room for needles to pass" technique is a time-saving and efficient method for designers. "Great art has always been rich in decorative value." (British novelist and playwright Somerset Maugham) This may be the reason why hand-drawn sketches have endured, retaining both aesthetic value and preservation significance. To meet the needs of readers, the editors have collected and selected over 300 examples of hand-drawn sketches from renowned interior decoration design companies in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. These sketches are categorized by residential spaces (living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, studies) and hotel areas (lobbies, dining rooms, cafes, guest rooms), as well as commercial and entertainment projects. The book also explains the tools used in the sketches. We believe this comprehensive collection of hand-drawn sketches will be well-received by interior design professionals and art enthusiasts, offering them valuable insights.
