Features: With the continuous deepening of educational system reform, promoting the integration of education and scientific research, and embodying the dual functions of university talent cultivation and academic research, have become the mainstream of China's higher education development. Since 2001, when the University of International Business and Economics became a directly affiliated institution of the Ministry of Education in terms of management, the university leadership has repeatedly emphasized the importance of improving teaching, accelerating the pace of talent cultivation, while further increasing investment in scientific research, creating a positive academic atmosphere, driving the update of teaching content through research, and ensuring the innovation and development of discipline construction. At the same time, it is necessary to make every effort to enable these research achievements to serve society directly, promoting the development of China's economic construction.
To implement the above educational philosophy, the School of Foreign Languages at the University of International Business and Economics has been actively exploring reforms in teaching management, striving to improve teaching quality while further intensifying its efforts in scientific research, making unremitting contributions to integrating research into the mainstream and achieving remarkable results. For example, leveraging the traditional strengths of the School of Foreign Languages in foreign language and literature research, significant breakthroughs have been made in applying for national and provincial/ministerial research projects, publishing monographs, and publishing academic papers.
Utilizing the Regional and National Studies Institute of the University of International Business and Economics as a platform, and taking advantage of the school's diverse language offerings and extensive coverage of countries and regions, research has been expanded into the politics, economy, and culture of relevant nations and regions. In 2003, a collection of academic papers on regional and national studies in politics, economy, and culture was compiled and published.
Now, presented to you is this collection of academic papers, which represents the latest achievements of the faculty of the School of Foreign Languages following the 2003 collection. After one year of effort, it includes research on the languages, literatures, cultures of various countries, as well as regional and national studies in politics and economy. Not only is the research field broad, but new attempts have also been made in research methods and approaches.
