Features: The selected language materials in A New English Extensive Reading Course cover various fields such as society, politics, economy, culture, history, news, religion, sports, medicine, literature, customs, and popular science from English-speaking countries. Each unit is divided into three parts. Part 1 is to be handled in class. Students should not preview the vocabulary for the word test. The words selected for the vocabulary test are mostly difficult words that may hinder comprehension or important common words from Section A. The texts are arranged from easy to difficult. The reading methods are introduced step by step and systematically, covering various reading skills. Part 2 systematically introduces common word formation in the second and third books, while Part 3 and Part 4 focus on word form changes. Cloze tests primarily assess students' reading comprehension skills and cultivate their language intuition. The supplementary vocabulary lists additional words related to the topic, aiming to help students expand their vocabulary. Part 2 selected texts are longer than those in Part 1, providing in-depth or supplementary content on related topics for reading. Teachers can check the reading in class or provide appropriate explanations based on the texts. Part 3 consists of three to four short passages on related topics, primarily used for fast reading training. Each unit has two discussion questions at the end, for in-class or extra-class discussion.
