Features: This book is a collection of Pan Jun's fictional texts, featuring five of his novels: "Peach Blossom and Flowing Water," "Across the Window," "Blue Fortress," "Summer Legends," and "The Art of Lying in Lanbao City," along with critiques of his novels by critics, introductions to Pan Jun's major works, and information about Pan Jun. The stories in the book are vivid and engaging, with intricate plots that are full of twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. For example, one story in the book describes a period during Japan's surrender in 1945: More than ten days after Japan announced its unconditional surrender on August 1945, Wang Chonghan, the chief of staff of the 44th Division, suddenly received an order from the commander-in-chief of the theater to quickly travel to the old town of Yian in Jiangnan to accept a batch of ships handed over by the Japanese. The order clearly stated that if these war trophies still had combat value, they should be operated as an independent brigade and a plan should be developed as soon as possible. The independent brigade would be directly under the command of the theater commander. On the day the order was delivered, Wang Chonghan set off from Ningxi. On January 5, 1996, while writing a novel about the past, the author unexpectedly discovered an unnoticed piece of news: Huang Qing, a notorious bandit hidden for nearly half a century, had recently been executed in Yunnan XX County. Huang Qing, originally from Yangzhou, Jiangsu, was 78 years old. In his youth, he was a bandit who terrorized the countryside and committed countless crimes. After the War of Resistance Against Japan, Huang Qing joined the Kuomintang and repeatedly launched attacks on our southern Anhui guerrilla areas (there had been rumors that he had been killed by our guerrilla detachment, but this has now been confirmed as false). After the liberation, Huang Qing did not reform his evil habits. In 1967, he plotted a violent struggle in Jiangdong, and in 1988, he participated in robbing a credit union. Since 1991, Huang Qing has been using the guise of doing business to come to Yunnan, secretly engaging in illegal smuggling of drugs, and ultimately could not escape justice.
