Features: This book is part of the research achievements of the Ministry of Education's 21st Century Higher Education Teaching Reform Project on "Research and Implementation of Innovative Talent Cultivation Models, Teaching Content, Teaching Methods, and Teaching Techniques in Chemical Engineering Majors." The content is adapted to the trend of modern science and technology's comprehensive and interdisciplinary development. The book includes 20 units, with the first 18 units covering the common production technologies, fundamental principles, and laws in various chemical engineering fields, namely the basic unit operations of chemical engineering, basic raw materials, production design, control, and management, research and development of chemical products and processes, and the design of chemical plants. These contents serve as the foundation for seeking common ground while respecting differences among various chemical engineering disciplines. Additionally, based on the characteristics of each major, the book provides detailed introductions to the fundamental theories, production technologies, and new developments in chemical engineering, organic chemical engineering, industrial catalysis, polymer chemical engineering, fine chemical engineering, industrial electrochemistry, green chemical engineering, and biochemical engineering, each in separate units. The last two units of the book introduce the writing conventions, linguistic features, and word-formation rules of scientific English, as well as the writing methods for English scientific abstracts. Each unit is divided into two parts: intensive reading and extensive reading. The intensive reading section serves as the basic requirement and is the focus of classroom instruction, while the extensive reading section provides students with broader reading material to meet their individual development needs and can also be used as teaching assessment content. The appendices include a table of mathematical symbols, a table of common numerical prefixes in chemical terms, a table of common suffixes for organic compounds, a table of common organic root names, and a periodic table of chemical elements.
