The book affirms Shi Lang's significant contributions to national unification, coastal defense, and the advancement of socioeconomic and cultural development across the strait. Target Audience: Taiwan affairs offices at all levels of government, researchers and educators in modern Chinese history, and faculty and students of liberal arts disciplines in universities and colleges.
Shi Weiqing: Currently serves as the Director of the Ancient Chinese History Teaching and Research Section at the History Department of Xiamen University. He has long been engaged in teaching and researching ancient Chinese history, with particular expertise in pre-Qin and Han Dynasty history and the evaluation of historical figures. His achievements in applying archaeological materials to historical research include numerous papers such as "On the 'Shi' of the Western Zhou and Spring and Autumn Periods," "Reconsidering the Status of 'Lìchénqiè'," "Issues in Using Qin Bamboo Slips to Study Land Systems," "Some Problems of Corvée Labor in the Qin and Han Dynasties," and "Salaries of Border Guards in Juyan during the Han Dynasty," among others. In his research on historical figures, he wrote a distinctive biographical critique titled Biographical Critique of Shi Lang, which organically combines the narration, verification, and critique of historical events. In recent years, he has continued his research on Shi Lang and published A Preliminary Study of Shi Lang's Chronology in 1998, a 700,000-word work. He has also authored over 30 papers with fair and innovative arguments, such as "On the Slogans of the Peasant Uprising at the End of the Qin Dynasty."
