Vocational and technical education has become an important part of higher education in China and plays an indispensable role in promoting the socialist modernization drive. Computer education holds a pivotal position in vocational education, as computer literacy has now permeated all industries. The traditional teaching model, which emphasizes theory over application, is somewhat unsuitable for vocational education. Therefore, textbooks that align with the characteristics of vocational education are needed to meet this demand. To address the imbalance between textbook supply and demand, Beijing Hope Electronics Press, in collaboration with the Higher Vocational and College Computer Basic Education Research Association, organized several vocational colleges across the country to jointly develop over 30 textbooks tailored to vocational education and more than 10 practical training textbooks. Experts were also engaged to evaluate the feasibility and operability of the series in terms of its system, style, structure, and content.
This series of textbooks embodies the goal of "focusing on the cultivation of practical skills and qualities" and aligns with the teaching requirements of the Ministry of Education, making breakthroughs in practicality, novelty, and readability. The development of vocational textbooks is a crucial aspect of educational reform. The curriculum of higher vocational education should be aligned with labor market demands, and teaching content should be linked to national vocational standards. The "order-based teaching" model, a collaboration between industry and academia, implements dual certification systems (academic diplomas and vocational qualifications), enabling the cultivation of frontline technical talent with zero distance between teaching and the market, and zero adaptation period for graduates entering the workforce. This market-oriented order-based teaching directly cultivates practical talents for employers, offering a distinctive path in vocational education that ensures students have the greatest development opportunities in both employment and further education. Therefore, universities should highlight the cultivation of applied skills, adjust disciplines, majors, and teaching content based on labor market signals, and differentiate themselves from comprehensive undergraduate institutions in terms of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This series of textbooks follows the needs of order-based teaching. On one hand, systematic theoretical textbooks are provided, whose content adheres to the principle of "essential and sufficient," building a solid theoretical foundation with vocational characteristics. On the other hand, practical training textbooks are offered to cultivate students with strong hands-on abilities, guided by the principles of "practical and applicable." These two types of textbooks complement each other and can be used either independently or in combination.
The development of vocational textbooks is still in progress. How to meet the demands of enterprises for talent and keep pace with the times are urgent issues that need to be addressed. This series aims to spark further innovation and hopes to attract more excellent teachers to participate in textbook development. We sincerely welcome teachers, students, and readers to provide valuable suggestions and feedback during the use of this series to prepare for future revisions and improvements, making the series even better. Since the birth of microcomputers, their technology has advanced rapidly, with new technologies and applications constantly emerging. The continuous development and popularization of computer technology have led more people to use computers for daily tasks. The demand for computer professionals in China has grown, and many schools have established computer programs to cultivate such talent. For computer students, mastering the principles of microcomputer composition is crucial for subsequent studies. Most current textbooks are designed for undergraduate computer students, leaving limited options for vocational college students. Although computer technology has advanced rapidly, and most users now use PIV-level microprocessors, computer students still need to learn the basic principles of microcomputers, starting with the 8088/8086 CPU. After mastering the 8088/8086 CPU, learning more advanced CPUs becomes relatively easier, so this book focuses on the 8088/8086 CPU.
When writing this book, the authors followed the principle of starting simple and progressing gradually, explaining the basic components of microcomputers, number systems and coding, the structure and working process of microprocessors, instruction sets, semiconductor memory, input/output interface technology and related knowledge, interrupt systems, and analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion, striving to make complex content clear and easy for students to understand and master. To facilitate instructors' use of the textbook, exercises are provided at the end of each chapter to assess students' comprehension of the material.
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 5 were written by Li Qiang of Xuzhou Vocational and Technical College; Chapter 3 and Chapter 9 were written by Yang Xudong of Xuzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College; Chapter 4 was written by An Xiufang of Xuzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College; Chapters 6 and 7 were written by Liu Lijun of Jicheng Normal College; and Chapter 8 was written by Lü Hong of Xuzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College. Yang Xudong served as the chief editor, responsible for the overall content design and finalization of the book. Due to the authors' limited expertise and the time constraints of writing, there may be errors and shortcomings in the book. We kindly request readers to provide constructive criticism and corrections.
