Publish Date: 2004-08-01
Features: This book is designed to complement the teaching of the History of Chinese Literature. It selects and annotates outstanding works from major literary genres from the pre-Qin period to the May Fourth New Culture Movement of the 20th century, following the chronological order of history. A total of 250 works and nearly 1,000 poems are included. The selected entries primarily focus on historically chosen classic works, emphasizing the representative works of authors who hold significant positions in literary history while also considering different schools and styles to align with the textbooks of Chinese literature history, reflecting the evolution and characteristics of ancient Chinese learning and its foundations. However, since chapter novels are limited in length and generally more accessible to the general audience, they are not excerpted. Similarly, excerpts from theatrical works are limited to the most renowned plays and their best scenes.
