Features: The novel narrates an industrial city named Linjiang. In recent years, with the development of the economy, the city's tax revenue, output value, and GDP have grown at an astonishing rate. However, what followed were a series of shocking events: a large number of malformed fetuses appeared among pregnant women in the city; livestock in the countryside grew restless, and well water became murky; the red canna lilies in the botanical garden turned into brown powder overnight; students in the university campus collapsed one by one for no apparent reason. Was it all just coincidence? Or was it a mysterious warning? Water and air, the very things humans rely on to survive every moment, have been corrupted today in the face of human greed and desire! What's even more frightening is that we know it's pollution, but we can't find the culprit. A veil of darkness covers everything—behind the calm rivers and clear seas, what lies beneath the prosperous and festive facade? Behind the glorious achievements of local officials, what immense cost in blood is hidden?
