Deng Xiaoping · 1928

Author: Gu Bai
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-08-01
Features: This novel is adapted from the screenplay "Deng Xiaoping·1928," which in turn is based on the book "Fires of Youth" compiled by Huang Asia and Ni Zhen years ago. The author has used "Fires of Youth" provided by Huang Asia and Ni Zhen as the foundation for rewriting, along with Mao Mao's two-volume work "My Father Deng Xiaoping," which served as a reference for the author's portrayal. In particular, rereading "My Father Deng Xiaoping" was immensely beneficial. It can be said that the author's grasp of Deng Xiaoping's thoughts, actions, and emotions in the play is largely based on Mao Mao's descriptions. For example, regarding Zhang Xiyuan, Mao Mao called her "Mom" and dedicated an entire chapter to her, capturing her narrative style and the emotions embedded in her words. This introduction allowed the author to understand the woman who died young, providing a basis for imagination and fiction. The author redesigned the Nationalist spy Cao Wurong, portraying his strength, abilities, and prominence, embodying the idea that "as the Tao advances by a foot, the devil advances by a yard." When his plot to sabotage the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was exposed and foiled by Deng Xiaoping, the character of Deng Xiaoping was fully realized as initially envisioned.
