Computer Organization Principles

Author: Luo Keilu

Publish Date: 2004-08-01
Features: This series of textbooks is comprehensively updated based on the original ministerial "Nineteen-Ninety-Five" planning textbooks, following the "2001 Computer Science Teaching Plan," to meet the needs of university computer science courses and curriculum reform. Special attention is paid to the readability and usability of the textbooks, providing various teaching services for instructors. The book is rewritten based on the national planning textbooks compiled by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, including the six·five, eight·five, and nine·five planning textbooks (among which the eight·five planning textbook won the third prize of the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Progress Award for Textbooks). It shifts from a focus on traditional small computers to the current mainstream microcomputer technology as its background, systematically introducing the logical composition and working mechanisms of each functional subsystem of the computer, and emphasizing the system-level concept of the entire machine. The book is divided into seven chapters.
Chapter 1 introduces the basic concepts of computers and the hardware and software organization of computer systems.
Chapter 2 separately introduces the representation methods of data information and instruction information.
Chapter 3 discusses the CPU subsystem, treating the CPU as an integrated whole, and analyzes the execution process of instructions in detail through a CPU model.
Chapter 4 introduces the storage subsystem, focusing on the design of main memory.
Chapter 5 introduces the I/O subsystem, including basic knowledge of interfaces, system buses, and I/O transmission control mechanisms such as interrupts and DMA.
Chapter 6 introduces common input/output devices and their I/O interfaces.
Chapter 7 provides a computer hardware system model as a summary of the entire book.
This book can serve as a textbook for "Computer Organization Principles" courses for computer science students in universities and also as a reference book for computer professionals.
