Features: Many friends must ask why this book was published. The reason is simple: a significant portion of a network administrator's daily work involves troubleshooting various complex network issues. From individual computers to servers, and then to switches and routers, from hardware to software, from accidental operational errors to deliberate attacks by viruses and malware, the issues range from minor poor connections to major flaws in overall design. The symptoms and causes of the failures are truly diverse and unpredictable. Many solutions rely on experience—what is often said is "the more you see, the more you know, and the more you encounter the unusual, the less surprised you become." However, for many network administrators who are new to the workforce and lack practical experience, facing sudden network failures can leave them overwhelmed and unsure where to start. Additionally, through surveys, we found that many readers, after gaining basic knowledge of local area network (LAN) setup, need to further learn about LAN troubleshooting and resolution. Some do so to improve their skills, while others prepare for future roles as network administrators. To meet this need, we planned and launched this book.
The book adopts the format of work notes, collecting daily work journals from multiple frontline senior network administrators. They share their experiences, demonstrating the thought processes they use when encountering failures, and provide detailed analyses of the troubleshooting steps and solutions. Additionally, each issue includes a summary of experience, allowing readers to learn comprehensive solutions from various network administrators and thereby enhance their problem-solving skills and LAN knowledge.
As the authors of this book, over 10 senior network administrators come from diverse industries, working with networks ranging from small home networks to various types of internet cafes, as well as large and medium-sized company and school networks. This ensures that the network failures collected in the book cover a wide range of network types. We strive to immerse readers in the real-world atmosphere of troubleshooting, enabling them to gain the most valuable knowledge in limited time and achieve the goal of "having this book in hand, solving network failures without worry."
Over 100 cases of troubleshooting areed, with more than 10 senior network administrators sharing their firsthand experiences. The book analyzes and explains network failures in the form of work notes, covering various types of network issues, including internet cafes, campus networks, and company networks. LAN failures are explained in a step-by-step manner, progressing from symptoms to diagnosis and then to troubleshooting insights, fully meeting the readers' needs. This book serves not only as a reference for solving network failures but also as a guide for learning LAN knowledge.
