Features: Corruption crime, as a form of corruptive crime, not only violates the integrity of public officials but also endangers social and political stability. To consolidate power and maintain governance, rulers throughout history have always attached great importance to the punishment of corruption crimes. Our country is a socialist state under the people's democratic dictatorship, and the nature of the state determines that state officials and those engaged in official duties must always uphold integrity and serve the people honestly. Therefore, our country has repeatedly emphasized the crackdown on corruption crimes. However, the current situation of corruption crimes remains severe, which has inevitably prompted deep reflection among the criminal law community regarding the theory and practice, legislation and adjudication of corruption crimes. In recent years, research on corruption crimes in our country has yielded fruitful results, but many issues remain unresolved. The various difficult cases that arise in judicial practice have also posed significant challenges to criminal law theory and criminal legislation. This is an opportunity for Dong Bangjun to study corruption crimes and the reason behind the writing of this book. Dong Bangjun is a Ph.D. student I supervised, who has a strong interest in criminal law and great enthusiasm for research. In recent years, he has been dedicated to exploring issues related to corruption crimes. Before writing this book, he has published several related papers, laying a solid foundation for the book and enabling many of its viewpoints to be based on long-term reflection. In my opinion, the book "Research on Corruption Crimes" has the following characteristics:
First, complete system and rational structure. The book provides a comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth analysis of various aspects of corruption crimes, including their definition, objects, objective elements, subjects, subjective elements, joint crimes, amounts, sentencing, procedural forms, single and multiple crimes, and the relationship between corruption crimes and related crimes. It examines corruption crimes from all angles and perspectives.
Second, distinct and novel viewpoints. The author expresses clear personal opinions on controversial issues regarding corruption crimes in the criminal law community. Some of his perspectives are quite innovative, reflecting his ability for independent thinking and problem-solving. For example, his discussions on the definition of corruption crimes, the objective elements of corruption crimes, the subjects of corruption crimes, the amounts and sentencing of corruption crimes, the establishment of statutory penalties for corruption crimes, and the positioning of corruption crimes within the criminal code all demonstrate this characteristic.
Third, broad perspective and strong interdisciplinary integration. The author does not confine himself to criminal law when studying corruption issues. Instead, he draws on knowledge from multiple disciplines, such as administrative law, civil law, and sociology, to address related to corruption crimes. Issues like the understanding of possession and the definition of intellectual property products reflect this characteristic.
Fourth, abundant and detailed materials. The book cites a vast number of scholarly works from ancient and modern times across various disciplines and reflects many situations that occur in judicial practice. This makes both the theoretical materials and case studies in the book quite rich.
Fifth, practice-oriented and emphasis on the combination of theory and practice. Many of the issues the author explores have been raised by judicial practice. When solving these problems, he also pays attention to aligning with the actual conditions of judicial practice. While focusing on the coherence of theory itself, he also considers the feasibility of theory in practice.
