The content of this book includes: first, the governance of ethnic minority regions by successive dynasties, including military suppression, leniency, and kinship, covering political, economic, and cultural aspects of rule, as well as typical governance ideas of each dynasty; second, the legal status of ethnic minority governments and groups as recorded in the "Twenty-Five Histories," including customary laws, legal cultures, the composition of ethnic minority governments, political and economic systems, and some distinctive social norms. Due to historical changes in China's territory and ethnic composition, this book primarily focuses on the history of ethnic groups within the country today. The main purpose of this book is to compile legal historical materials, with little discussion of ethnic origins. To preserve the original form of the materials, the book has undergone minimal modifications, with only obvious typographical errors and punctuation mistakes corrected, and variant characters standardized.
