Features: This book is written according to the new requirements of higher vocational education issued by the Ministry of Education. It is divided into three parts and published in two volumes. The first volume includes two parts: the synthesis and equilibrium of force systems and the strength, stiffness, and stability of materials. The main content includes: the fundamental properties of forces and the analysis of forces on objects, coplanar concurrent force systems, the moment of a force about a point and coplanar couples, general coplanar force systems, spatial force systems, deformation forms of rods, axial tension and compression, shear and bearing, torsion, geometric properties of plane figures, bending internal forces, bending stresses, bending deformation, stress states and strength theory, combined deformation, and column stability. Each chapter includes a summary, review questions, and exercises. The answers to some exercises are provided at the end of the book. This book can be used as a teaching material for civil engineering-related majors such as construction engineering, road and bridge engineering, and water conservancy engineering in higher vocational colleges, adult colleges, and other institutions. It can also serve as a reference for self-learners and related engineering and technical personnel.
