Features: In the field of science and society, Tsinghua University has a galaxy of outstanding alumni. In the new era, Tsinghua University's humanities are constantly renewing. In 1985, China's first STS research institution was established, which evolved into the STS Research Institute of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1993, and in 2000, the Tsinghua STS Center was formed. Currently, the Tsinghua STS Center has the authority to grant master's and doctoral degrees in Philosophy of Science and Technology, co-publishs the core journal Research in the History of Science, and has become a key discipline in Tsinghua University's humanities. The discipline construction and development have entered a new stage. Taking the "Integrated Research on Nature, Science, Technology, and Society" project being listed as a 985 key project of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tsinghua University as an opportunity, with the strong support of Tsinghua University Press, we have organized and edited this series of Tsinghua Science, Technology, and Society Books. The aim is to continuously promote high-level STS research results, flourish STS academic research, and advance the development of the STS discipline.
The philosophical problems in science and technology are foundational research areas within the discipline system of science and technology studies, but for many years, domestic research has lacked concentrated exchanges and comprehensive showcases. This book compiles some of the outstanding achievements from domestic and international academia in recent years, covering fields such as natural philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy of technology, science and technology sociology, science and technology ethics, and science policy. It offers diverse perspectives on meta-theoretical issues in science and technology, philosophical problems in physics, life and mind sciences, philosophical issues in technology and science ethics, and philosophical problems in complexity and systems science.
