Features: This Manual comprises 49 chapters and includes over 520 drugs, primarily covering the "National Essential Medicines" (208 species) and drugs taught in pharmacy textbooks for college and vocational students. Each class of drugs features a brief overview, emphasizing the characteristics of the drugs' actions, principles of use, and precautions, providing readers with a fundamental understanding of their pharmacological effects, indications, and rational drug selection. Subsequently, each drug is introduced with its common Chinese and English names, pharmacokinetic parameters, a concise pharmacological action and mechanism, uses, dosage and administration, adverse reactions, drug interactions, and formulations. Notably, the dosage and administration sections are closely tied to clinical practice, generally written in detail for practical reference. This book serves as a manual for clinical commonly used drugs. While preserving the writing style and features of the th edition, this revision adds 1 chapter, making it a total of 50 chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, focusing on theoretical discussions of relevant principle issues related to the manual's content, such as drug metabolism in the body, drug dosage and administration, drug interactions, and factors affecting drug action, to serve as a reference for rational clinical drug use. Chapters 2-50 are primarily organized by pharmacological actions. This revision includes new chapters such as "Drugs for Improving Brain Tissue Metabolism" (Chapter 10), "Cerebral Vasoactive Drugs and Intracranial Pressure-Lowering Drugs" (Chapter 16), "Weight-Loss Drugs" (Chapter 22), "Abortifacient and Antifertility Drugs" (Chapter 27), and "Quinolone Antibacterial Drugs" (Chapter 36). In terms of antibiotics, the original classification method has been changed, and drugs are now presented by chemical structure. The appendix has been expanded to include neonatal commonly used antibiotics, empirical treatment for bacterial infections, and incompatibilities in drug mixtures during intravenous administration. Each chapter (class) of drugs features a brief overview, emphasizing the characteristics of the drugs' actions, principles of use, and precautions, providing readers with a fundamental understanding of their pharmacological effects, indications, and rational drug selection. The description of drugs combines detailed, itemized narration with tabular presentation. Common representative drugs are introduced in detail with their Chinese and English names, pharmacokinetic parameters, concise pharmacological actions, uses, dosage and administration, adverse reactions, and formulations, while similar drugs and new products are summarized in tables for easy comparison. This approach expands the number of included drugs to over 1,200, doubling the count from the th edition. The revised Manual is more enriched and comprehensive, reflecting recent advancements in new drugs. It serves as an essential reference for internship doctors, young doctors in various hospitals, and medical workers in clinical practice, as well as a reference book for medical students studying pharmacology.
