The book primarily focuses on the instructions of the Intel 8086/8088 CPU, supplemented by the 8086 instructions in real mode, systematically introducing the fundamental theories and programming methods of assembly language. The main content includes: basic knowledge of assembly language programming, addressing modes and instruction set of 8086, program framework of assembly language, commonly used pseudo-instructions and operators, basic techniques of assembly language programming, advanced assembly techniques, I/O programming techniques using assembly language, mixed programming of assembly language and C, and experimental methods of assembly language programming. Each chapter highlights key points, features a clear structure, and is concise and easy to understand. A certain number of exercises in the form of exam questions are provided at the end of each chapter. The experimental methods introduce two compilation and debugging tools for the readers' convenience: one is the MASM5.0 assembler and linker, primarily used for compiling and debugging 8086/8088 and 80286 systems (MASM and DEBUG), and the other is the Microsoft MASM6.11 software package, primarily used for compiling and debugging systems above 80386 (PWB integrated compiler and Codeview debugger). This book is intended as a teaching material for undergraduate students in computer science and related fields at higher education institutions.
