Features: The Lawyer's Digest is a large digest-style publication primarily aimed at lawyers. Adhering to the editorial philosophy of "independent spirit and free thought," it selects articles that highlight intellectual depth, international perspective, and forward-thinking insights. It is a Western scene when a lawyer becomes a judge first, but in today's China, judges may resign or lose motivation and turn to practicing law instead. Several judges I have taught, upon completing their executive Master of Laws programs, quickly found law firms to start anew. There are also those with a broader vision, who openly admit that serving as judges or working in government first allows them to build a network before venturing into law practice. On the surface, this may seem like a detour, but in reality, it is a shortcut. These individuals are all honest and deeply resigned to their circumstances.
