Features: This book is compiled based on the teaching experience accumulated over ten years by scholars who were among the earliest to conduct research in the field of soil mechanics in China. It is currently one of the most comprehensive soil mechanics textbooks in the country. As a graduate-level textbook, it aims to present the field of soil mechanics to readers from a broader perspective, while also introducing issues that have recently drawn attention and debate. Additionally, it provides a relatively comprehensive overview of the research achievements of domestic scholars. The book hopes not only to enable readers to systematically learn and master its content and findings but also to understand and appreciate the fundamental approaches and methods of soil mechanics research, gradually forming their own research concepts and models. The content of the book is an extension of undergraduate soil mechanics textbooks, divided into seven chapters, including: Soil Tests and Measurements, Soil Constitutive Relations, Soil Strength, Soil Moisture and Seepage and Their Calculations, Soil Compression and Consolidation, and Soil Numerical Computation (including limit equilibrium calculations for soil stability and finite element calculations for soil seepage and consolidation). Each chapter is accompanied by corresponding exercises, discussion questions, or computational programs. Some chapters can also serve as supplementary reference material for out-of-class study. This book has been recognized as a "Beijing Premier Textbook" and can be used as a textbook and reference for teachers, master's students, and related personnel in fields such as civil engineering, water conservancy, railway, transportation, geology, metallurgy, agriculture, and forestry. It can also serve as a self-study and reference book for undergraduate students, researchers, and engineering technicians interested in geotechnical engineering.
