Features: Based on the characteristics of the steelmaking and metallurgy major, this book emphasizes the solidification heat transfer of continuous casting billets and focuses on explaining the process and quality issues of continuous casting from both theoretical and practical perspectives. For continuous casting equipment, its principles, structures, and features are discussed from the perspective of meeting the requirements of the continuous casting process. In recent years, many new technologies have emerged in the field of continuous casting, but due to space limitations, it is difficult to introduce them in separate chapters. This book integrates their applications and distributes them across relevant sections. For technologies with a significant impact on the development of continuous casting, such as hot transfer of edge billets and direct rolling, as well as thin slab (strip) continuous casting, separate chapters are dedicated to their introduction. The book consists of nine chapters: Chapter 1 (Introduction), Chapter 5 (Continuous Casting Billet Quality), and Chapter 7 (Thin Slab (Strip) Continuous Casting) were written by Chen Lei from Wuhan Iron and Steel University; Chapter 2 (Continuous Casting Equipment) and Chapter 8 (Detection and Automation of Continuous Casting Process) were written by Zhu Benli from East China Metallurgical Institute; Chapter 3 (Solidification Heat Transfer of Continuous Casting Billets) and Chapter 6 (Hot Transfer and Direct Rolling of Continuous Casting Billets) were written by Yu Shengyi from Anshan Iron and Steel University; Chapter 4 (Continuous Casting Process) and Chapter 9 (Refractories for Continuous Casting) were written by You Huiling from Baotou Iron and Steel University. The entire book was edited by Chen Lei.
