Before the liberation, he not only taught Chinese painting at Fu Ren University and the of Peking University but also established his own studio to teach middle-aged artists aspiring to improve their painting skills. Some of his students have now gained prominence in the Chinese art world, while others have become professors in universities abroad. His students span countries like the UK, France, Germany, Russia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and India, spreading the techniques of Chinese painting across the world. In 1963, a student from the Federal Republic of Germany, Bao Lisheng, compiled photographs of Mr. Songchuang's brushwork process and numerous artworks into a book titled "The Technique of Chinese Painting," published in both German and English, with the dedication "To Pu Quan." Another student from the UK, Ms. Da Shuming, exhibited and included Mr. Songchuang's calligraphy and paintings in a collection at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, the University of Birmingham, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 1971. After the liberation, Mr. Songchuang continued to give short lectures at art schools such as the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Northeast, and Beijing Art Teachers College, while also serving as a consultant at the Beijing Art Institute. At home, he often invited skilled calligraphers and painters to gather, and he generously offered guidance to students from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and Northeast. In his later years, he even gathered his grandchildren to paint bamboo during winter and summer vacations, allowing them to be exposed to traditional culture from a young age.
