Features: Learning English, reading and writing are inseparable. As you advance to the advanced stage, the role of reading and writing becomes even more prominent, especially for Ph.D. students, as the opportunities for external communication increase, and writing papers in English has become imperative. To write a good paper, it is necessary to engage in extensive reading. Currently, there are few teaching materials that combine reading and writing for the advanced stage. This book is an attempt, written according to the National "Teaching Syllabus for Non-English Major Graduate English (Foreign Language)," and is designed for Ph.D. students to learn English. The book selects 40 articles, divided into 6 themes. Each theme includes 6 to 8 articles, with close internal connections, broad coverage, strong cutting-edge relevance, and a fascinating interplay between science, technology, and humanities. In the specific teaching process, teachers can select key articles for instruction based on students' majors and interests. Expanding vocabulary remains important in Ph.D. language training, but more importantly, it is essential to guide students to truly grasp the intrinsic meaning of words and use them correctly. The exercises are designed to cover a wide range of language topics with clear levels. At the same time, the selection of exercises for each lesson ensures relative stability while remaining flexible in form.
