Features: The Book of Songs was originally referred to as Poetry or Three Hundred Poems. It was revered as a "classic" during the Han Dynasty and later came to be known as The Book of Songs. Compiled in the Spring and Autumn Period, it contains 305 poems. These works were created over a period of approximately 600 years, from the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the middle of the Spring and Autumn Period. The Book of Songs is divided into three parts: Feng, Ya, and Song. Feng refers to folk songs, including the Fifteen States (i.e., Zhou Nan, Zhao Nan, Bei Feng, Yong Feng, Wei Feng, Wang Feng, Zheng Feng, Qi Feng, Wei Feng, Tang Feng, Qin Feng, Chen Feng, Huai Feng, Cao Feng, and Bin Feng). In compiling this book, the selection was based on the principles of strong expressiveness, artistic quality, and representative content. In faithfully adhering to the original poems and tracing their origins, the translations and annotations are written with accurate, vivid, and elegant language. The purpose is to help more readers break through the barriers of archaic and obscure literary language, allowing them to freely roam the river of classical poetry and enjoy the beauty it offers.
