Features: Red Shoes is Zhang Yuoran's latest illustrated novel, telling the story of a hitman and a girl. The hitman, hired to kill the girl's mother, faces the 4-year-old girl who emerges from the inner room, clad in her mother's red shoes, and pulls the trigger. Six years later, the hitman accidentally meets the girl at an orphanage. It turns out she didn't die. Consumed by guilt, the hitman decides to retire from his life of crime, takes her on the road, and provides her with an exquisite life. Although the girl grows up lonely and indifferent, resisting him and the world, the hitman is willing to give her everything, even his own life. Zhang Yuoran crafts a twisted love and a tragic story with pure language, making it more readable than her previous works.
