Mao Ying was born in Beijing in 1969. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and currently works in business support. In 1985, her prose piece "Wild Grass" was selected for publication in the youth anthology "A Petal Just Beginning to Show." She has a fondness for traditional culture and a deep love for literature. She began writing in 1992 and has since published numerous poems, essays, and short stories. In 2002, she released her novel "Can You Tell Me What to Do?" (also titled "Green Goose").
