Features: To ensure that the items, content, methods, and accuracy of the data collected during observations are comparable, thereby identifying their characteristics and patterns, the unification of methods is crucial. Only by unifying methods and strictly following the unified procedures can the large amounts of data obtained from different types of grasslands or the same type of grassland at different times be compared and analyzed to find common characteristics and patterns. This, in turn, can provide a scientific basis for the effective management of grassland ecosystems, the protection of biodiversity, the sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry, and the rational utilization and establishment of grassland resource models. The purpose of writing this book is precisely to establish a scientific and practical method to provide a basis for long-term observations by national field grassland experimental stations. It is hoped that national field grassland experimental stations can follow this unified standard, from the determination of standard sites and the establishment of observation fields to the collection, processing, analysis, and data processing of samples, thereby generating a large amount of comparable, systematic, and standardized data. Through grid establishment, an advanced and continuously updated information system can be established, and data can be managed in an orderly manner to promote and achieve data sharing between different units. To achieve this goal, the selection of observation methods is very important. Because there are different methods for the same indicator, the principles for selection will lead to very different results.
