Features: In the process of compiling this textbook, the author attempts to elaborate on the fundamental principles of management through two main threads: a vertical and a horizontal. Vertically, the author traces the historical development, introducing and analyzing key theorists, practitioners, and significant historical events in the evolution of management theory and practice. This enables students to understand the process of management theory development, as well as the theories of different periods, perspectives, and schools of thought, thereby enhancing their ability to recognize the inherent laws of management activities. Horizontally, the author uses the basic framework of management functions to explain the fundamental principles of management. In this regard, the author adopts the viewpoint of the management functions school, which holds that management is a process, and managers repeatedly fulfill various management functions within this process. In this book, the author focuses on elaborating on the planning function, organizing function, leadership function, and control function of management. If the horizontal explanation of management functions explores the inherent laws of management activities from a static perspective, then the vertical introduction and analysis of the historical development of management theory and practice explore these laws from a dynamic perspective. The former provides more conclusions, systematically and theoretically organizing the management experience formed through long-term management practices in effective planning, organizing, leadership, and control, thereby helping people grasp the fundamental principles of effective management. The latter offers more reflection. Through comparison and analysis, it helps broaden management perspectives, establish correct management concepts, and enhance the understanding of the inherent laws of management activities. In this book, the author cites the management thoughts and viewpoints of many renowned domestic experts and scholars, as well as the management insights of many famous international management scholars, faithfully reflecting the ideas and perspectives of management predecessors. The author strives to use original quotes as much as possible in the book and indicates the sources of references wherever possible. This also makes some parts of the text appear obscure. Of course, any errors or inappropriate statements in the book are entirely the author's responsibility.
