Features: Adolescent science is an important branch of male and female health care. It is a product of applying the theories, methods, and techniques of physiology and psychology to medical practice and adolescent education. It is an interdisciplinary field that intersects physiology, psychology, health care, preventive medicine, behavioral science, and sociology. Adolescent Science primarily studies students and adolescents in their adolescent years. Its fundamental task is to comprehensively elucidate the essential characteristics of the physical and mental health and behavior of adolescent populations, specifically the interdependent and influential relationship between their physiology and psychology: the impact of adolescent psychology on health, the causes, patterns, and preventive health measures for the emergence and development of adolescent social psychology and behavior. This book was compiled based on the implementation of adolescent education for undergraduate students starting in 1990. To date, adolescent science education has expanded to include graduate students. The age span of adolescence is relatively broad, and psychological manifestations vary across different age stages. This book divides adolescence into five periods and discusses their physiological, psychological characteristics, and corresponding strategies. According to scientific practice and research fields, Adolescent Science mainly focuses on the following research areas:
1. Anatomical and Physiological Psychology of Adolescence: This primarily studies the causes and patterns of the occurrence, development, and changes in the physiology, psychology, and behavior of adolescents.
2. Neurophysiological Psychology: This primarily studies the relationship between the brain and the physiology, psychology, and behavior of adolescents.
3. Psychosomatic Medicine: This studies the relationship between psychological and social factors and human diseases, including etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention.
4. Psychological Counseling: This refers to the assistance and services provided by psychologists using their professional knowledge and skills to help clients understand themselves, recognize their environment, set beneficial life goals for personal development and social progress, regulate their behavior in work, life, study, and interpersonal relationships, fully develop their potential, enhance their self-confidence and social adaptability, and achieve their desired goals.
5. Social Psychology and Behavioral Characteristics of Adolescence: This includes a series of social issues faced by adolescent students, such as learning, interpersonal relationships, friendship and love, social adaptation behavior, online behavior, and career choices.
This book has been included in the National Ministry of Education's 21st Century Curriculum Textbooks and is primarily used as a teaching material for adolescent science courses for undergraduate and graduate students in various disciplines at higher education institutions. It can also be used as a teaching material for similar professional courses in nursing schools and medical colleges for workers, as well as a reference for personnel engaged in adolescent-related work.
