Features: "The Archival Records of Manchu Opera" is different from all other published works on Manchu Opera. The author does not adopt a detached, rational stance to analyze and contemplate the art; nor does he merely gather materials to explain a particular issue. Instead, he approaches it, gets close to it, and objectively traces its history, genuinely depicting its current state. It can be said that this is a work written with dedication. Anything written with sincerity and genuine emotion must inevitably touch the heart. Huo Changhe is a literary critic who has published many outstanding articles and a long biographical work titled "Red Musician—Jie Fu." He developed an interest in Manchu Opera while researching contemporary literary phenomena and was often seen buying tickets to watch performances in small theaters. This sparked his desire to write about the art. Jin Fang is the Secretary-General of the Liaoning Province Quyi Association and has published numerous quyi critiques. Through organizing various Manchu Opera competitions, she has become close friends with many folk Manchu Opera artists, familiarizing herself not only with the art but also with the joys and sorrows of the performers. She can speak at length about artists like Yan Xuejing, Wang Xiaobao, Zhang Xiaofei, Tang Jianjun, and others. The name "The Archival Records of Manchu Opera" is highly creative. Of course, this book is not a true archival record of Manchu Opera. The true archival records of Northeast Manchu Opera are preserved in the hearts of the working people of Northeast China across generations. It is hoped that this book can attract the attention of more readers and knowledgeable individuals, especially Northeasterners. Manchu Opera is, after all, our own creation. Let us approach it, get close to it, and help it on its journey. May it infuse the spiritual essence of the White and Black Mountains into the main melody of the times, moving and inspiring the revitalization of Northeast China and more Chinese people.
