Features: Computer art design, as a new form of art and design, has just begun to take root in China. With the widespread adoption of computers and the emergence and continuous improvement of numerous computer drawing software, these tools have rapidly penetrated into various fields and industries related to art and design, becoming a valuable assistant for designers. Proficient operation of computer drawing software is the prerequisite and foundation for creating computer art works. As the saying goes, "A workman must have his tools if he wishes to do his work well." Once readers have a basic understanding and mastery of computer drawing software, they need to combine computer design techniques with the design concepts and principles of art and design to create computer works that meet artistic design requirements. The process of translating a good design concept into a computer presentation involves various compositional elements such as shape, color, and composition. Handling the relationships between these design elements is the key to creating an outstanding computer artwork, which requires guidance from design concepts and creative experience.
To this end, we have launched this series of "Art and Design Project Case Guides." We closely integrate the usage methods and operational techniques of computer drawing software with the relevant design concepts and principles of art and design works. Using a case-by-case and specialized approach, we provide in-depth and accessible analyses and explanations of various art and design types within the field of art and design through vivid and engaging examples. This ensures that good ideas can be quickly, accurately, and completely realized under clear creative approaches and design guidelines.
Illustrator is one of the outstanding software tools for handling vector images in graphic and image processing. Since its release, it has been widely used in the field of graphic design due to its user-friendly interface and powerful drawing capabilities. The excellent examples of Illustrator in this book cover some of the most common design types in the current field of computer graphic design, such as newspaper advertisements, magazine advertisements, posters, book illustrations, POP advertisements, product renderings, and packaging design. Each design type is explained in a dedicated chapter.
To ensure that the examples and the design principles they involve are clearly targeted, we have carefully assigned a virtual client to each design example in the book. Readers can explore the client requirements, design concepts, preparatory work, and specific production steps for each chapter's design example through four sections: "Client Needs," "Design Concepts," "Preparation Work," and "Production Steps." This provides targeted theoretical explanations on the communication of design themes, the expression of specific ideas, the collection and organization of design materials, and an overview of design techniques.
This book presents a comprehensive and detailed journey of each exciting example, from client requirements and creative brainstorming to material collection and the final production of the artwork. Readers not only gain proficiency in the usage of Illustrator tools and numerous production techniques but also apply highly targeted design concepts and principles to practical operations, achieving immediate application and the ability to generalize from specific cases.
The authors who contributed to the writing and organization of this book include Zhou Ke Ling, Shang Feng, Yao Ke Jun, Li Xin, Wang Ke, Zhang Rui Juan, Jiao Zhao Jun, and Hou Wan.
