Features: Myths originated in ancient times, so they are also known as ancient myths, with a history of over 5,000 years. In ancient times, the level of productivity was low, and the ancestors could not provide scientific explanations for various complex phenomena in nature. They used their naive imagination to personify, anthropomorphize, and narrate natural forces, and they fantasized about various gods who could control and dominate nature based on the heroic images they revered. As a result, numerous myths were created. The earliest stories of humanity often began with myths. Initially, myths were simply passed down orally among the people in the form of stories. After a considerable period of time, only a portion of them were recorded and preserved in writing. Therefore, in summary, myths are highly fantastical stories created orally by ancient people, reflecting the natural world, the relationship between humans and nature, and social structures. This book primarily selects mythological stories from ancient civilizations with relatively developed regions, such as Hebrew, Indian, Babylonian, and Greek and Roman civilizations, and also touches upon the myths of other ethnic groups to some extent. Based on different content, these myths can generally be divided into three types: creation myths, natural myths, and hero myths.
