Features: The purpose of this book was originally to cast a stone to attract jade, but to this day, no other complete book introducing Shanghai temples has been written, leaving it as a lone volume. Grateful for the recognition, my work sold out within a year and had no chance for a second edition. In recent years, the number of Buddhist temples and Taoist in Shanghai has increased by nearly one-third, with many temples undergoing reconstruction or expansion. Many colleagues have encouraged me to write more to further explore Shanghai's temples. Through this new work, I aim to provide religious researchers with detailed information on all officially open Buddhist temples and Taoist palaces in Shanghai (generally up to the end of 2002), offer tourists a guidebook to the temples in Shanghai, and introduce readers to some basic knowledge of Buddhist and Taoist cultures. If you find it even a little convenient, that would be the best affirmation of my ten years of work in managing Buddhist and Taoist affairs.
