Features: This book attempts to leave an impression on people: creativity as a gift unites those who work hard in any position, rather than separating them. Like artists, composers, scientists, writers, athletes, and other creative professionals, the entrepreneurs featured in the book and their work attract the world's attention in unique ways. The methods and processes by which they create wealth bear striking similarities to creative activities in other fields. Compared to the actions and talents of entrepreneurs and other creators, their commonalities far outweigh their differences. However, just as creativity itself lacks a clear definition, it is also difficult to categorize these entrepreneurs properly. It can only be said that they share a common point: their stories are captivating, and their achievements are extraordinary.
The author, Morry Klein, a professor at the University of Rhode Island, analyzes how 26 of America's greatest entrepreneurs and innovators—from Andrew Carnegie to Bill Gates—overcame long-term challenges in planning and strategy, production, operations, employee placement, and sales, ultimately transforming entire industries. Through vivid characterizations and studies of their life journeys, Klein compares the retail talents of James Cash Penney and Sam Walton of Walmart, the organizational abilities of John D. Rockefeller of Standard Oil and Robert Noyce of Intel, and the creative marketing strategies of Alfred Sloan of General Motors and Ray Kroc of McDonald's, revealing the artistic talents of successful entrepreneurs and outlining a model for success.
Klein explores the products and markets that inspire entrepreneurial creativity, examines the competitors and mentors who motivate them forward, and investigates their talents and personalities, ultimately presenting readers with a profound of the birth of American industry, the growth of companies, and the revival of entrepreneurial spirit in the early 21st century.
